Half Marathon
by
Philip Holyman "I was tremendously impressed (and not a little shocked....!)
- utterly professional in every way." Roz Symon (RSC Play Guide
Co-ordinator)
Half Marathon was performed in The Other
Space at Stratford-upon-Avon College on July 8th 2003 and in the Hexagon at the
Midlands Arts Centre on July 10th 2003. It was received with shock
and enthusiasm from its audiences, with much praise for Philip Holyman as well
as the play's cast and crew. Much of our feedback included a wish to see the
play performed more often and in more places to increase the reputation of the
playwright and the company. The company's appearance in Edinburgh in 2004,
hopefully was another step along the way to notoriety...
The Plot
Roxanne discovers a diet which allows her to eat anything
she chooses - but she may only eat half. When the regime shows results, she
sets about applying the principle to other areas of her life, reading halves of
books, doing only half of her work, cutting off conversations halfway through
and ultimately, becoming bisexual. The craze slowly turns to an obsession and
Roxanne faces losing her friends, her job and her sense of reality.
