 The Journey

The Ej is currently in the infant stages of what we hope will be a long, prosperous and exciting journey. What you see before you is the product of two inspired, enthusiastic minds who, back in 2002 decided to launch an attack on British theatre with their fresh approach to the industry.

Well, that's what we like to think anyway...

In reality, The Ej is the result of a highly ambitious plan to take a show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2003, giving ourselves nine months to find the play, the venue and the funding whilst simultaneously breezing through all our exams and getting into university. In the end, practicality caught up with us and gave us a much needed cold shower. However, every cloud has a silver lining and in our case it gave us time to re-group and construct a solid company so that we could establish ourselves in earnest.

The decision to open our repertoire withpieces of new writing was not incidental. We felt that, as a company who are on the cusp of their professional lives, we wanted to offer ideas on life in the 21st Century and what exactly it means to be a member of today's society.

The work that we choose to present is moulded around questions that we feel are prominent not only to humanity, but in a theatrical context.
